Chile has experienced sustained growth in the air cargo market with an increase of 15% in the last five years.

Currently, Avianca Cargo is positioned as one of the main strategic partners in the Chilean market.

To close 2024, the airline announces the addition of 15 additional incremental frequencies for the cherry season, the largest increase in its history, with the aim of meeting the growing demand of the Asian market.

“Avianca Cargo’s expansion does not stop there. By 2025, we expect to increase our cargo capacity by 25%, consolidating our position as a key player in the export of Chilean products to global destinations,” says Diogo Elías, Senior Vice President of Avianca Cargo.

CHILE: A GROWING STRATEGIC MARKET

Chile has experienced sustained growth in the air cargo market with an increase of 15% in the last five years.

In 2024, Avianca Cargo recorded an 11% growth in exports and 2% in imports compared to the previous year, standing out as a reliable partner for the country's exporters.

Among the main products moved by Avianca Cargo are fruits, seeds and fish. The cherry season is particularly relevant: in 2023, it represented 23,000 tons of exports concentrated in just six weeks.

This year, with the addition of new frequencies, Avianca Cargo reaffirms its commitment to connecting Chilean exporters with key markets such as Asia, which currently represents 15% of the country's total exports.

In the total Chilean air cargo market, which moved 270,000 tons in the last year, the main products exported are salmon (70%), fruit (15%) and seeds (3%).

Despite an overall market contraction of 6.7% in 2024, Avianca Cargo remains a key player, responding to the needs of exporters with a robust and reliable operation.

INVESTMENTS IN FLEET AND CONNECTIVITY

Avianca Cargo has made the largest investment in the last decade to strengthen its operations. In 2025, it will add two new A330 P2F aircraft to its fleet, increasing efficiency and cargo capacity.

These aircraft, recognized for their lower fuel consumption and greater volumetric capacity, are key to the sustainability of their operations.

The company currently connects more than 350 destinations through cargo flights, passenger flights and interline agreements.

From Chile, its operations network includes 4 cargo flights and 5 wide body flights per week, with plans to double this capacity by 2025. Main destinations include Miami (78%), Asia (12%) and Bogotá (6%).

SUSTAINABILITY AND INNOVATION

The company has also launched a platform in collaboration with Choose to enable its customers to monitor and offset carbon emissions in real time.

This effort is in addition to the operation of the most modern fleet of medium freighters in Latin America, with aircraft that generate 15% fewer CO₂ emissions per revenue tonne-kilometer transported (RTK).

In addition, Avianca Cargo became the first airline to connect with the three main booking platforms: CargoAI, cargoONE and WebCargo.

This integration allows 100% of the routes to be offered for GCR cargo, significantly expanding the scope and service capabilities.

With these investments and its focus on sustainability and innovation, Avianca Cargo continues to lead the transformation of air transport in Latin America, consolidating its position as a strategic partner for Chilean exporters and connecting Chile with the most demanding markets in the world.
