There is speculation that a meeting between Trump and Xi in the Chinese capital or at the Republican's Florida residence, Mar-a-Lago, is possible.

US President Donald Trump is reportedly interested in signing a new trade deal with China that would result in increased purchases of American products and Chinese investment in the country, but would also address broader issues such as nuclear security.

According to The New York Times , the White House itself admits that there are significant challenges to bringing the intended agreement to fruition.

However, Trump is reportedly willing to discuss these issues directly with his Chinese counterpart, Xi Jinping. In this regard, the possibility of a meeting between Trump and Xi in the Chinese capital or at the Republican's Florida residence, Mar-a-Lago, is being considered.

A similar agreement in 2020 already stipulated that China would open certain sectors of its economy to foreign competition, protect industrial secrets and acquire more agricultural and energy products from its rival. In the end, China did not comply with the purchase volumes, citing the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic.
