Mexico set a record in attracting foreign direct investment in 2024

Last year, Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) that entered the Aztec country amounted to US$ 36,872 million. This figure was a historic amount since records began.

During 2024, Mexico attracted a record US$ 36,872 million in Foreign Direct Investment (FDI).

This represented a real growth of 1.1% compared to the same period last year, according to figures from the Bank of Mexico.

In the breakdown by federal entity, it was observed that Mexico City was the largest recipient of FDI; in 2024 it received US$ 14,427 million, equivalent to 39% of the total.

In second place was the State of Mexico, concentrating nearly 7% of foreign investments.

The top five is completed by other entities in the northern border: Baja California, Nuevo León and Chihuahua.

The data on FDI captured for 2024 is still preliminary and will be adjusted when institutions have more information on the operations.
