The group thanked the president-elect for ensuring "clarity and security" for its activity, after Trump announced that upon assuming power he would suspend a law ordering the platform's disconnection.

TikTok announced on Sunday that it is "in the process of restoring service" to the platform in the United States, just hours after suspending it to comply with a law passed by Congress, and following a message from President-elect Donald Trump announcing that he will postpone the entry into force of the rule.

In a message posted on the social network X, the group thanked Trump for guaranteeing the "clarity and security necessary" for its activity and assured internet providers that they would be exempt from the harsh sanctions provided for by the law that determined their ban if their Chinese owners did not sell their subsidiary in the United States.

"As a result of President Trump's efforts, TikTok is back in the United States," the group said.

Following TikTok's disconnection, Trump announced that upon assuming power on Monday he will suspend the controversial law and proposed that the application "be owned 50% by a joint venture."

The law voted by Congress in 2024 came into effect this Sunday and TikTok stopped operating in the United States, making the short video platform inaccessible to more than 170 million users.

The law, however, includes a clause allowing for a 90-day deadline if the White House can show progress toward a viable deal, though ByteDance, TikTok's Chinese parent company, has so far rejected any sale.

Trump said the executive order he will issue on Monday will extend the time for a ban. "That way we can reach an agreement," he said.
