The owner of the Jeep, Ram, Chrysler and Dodge brands could import some 417,000 vehicles into the US this year from the two countries on which Trump has just imposed 25% tariffs.

New tariffs announced by US President Donald Trump on vehicles imported from Mexico and Canada could result in profit losses of up to US$6.2 billion for Stellantis and Volkswagen.

The owner of the Jeep, Ram, Chrysler and Dodge brands could import some 417,000 vehicles into the US this year from the two countries on which Trump has just imposed 25% tariffs. Assuming no mitigating measures are applied, Bloomberg estimates that 3.44 billion euros (US$ 3.594 billion) of Stellantis' profits and 1.77 billion euros (US$ 1.849 billion) of Volkswagen's are at risk.

The economic media also cites that in the "unlikely scenario" that the entire tax is passed on to buyers, it could lead to an increase of between 5,600 and 9,500 euros (US$ 5,852 and US$ 9,927) in the final price of the vehicles.

Shares in Milan-listed Stellantis have fallen by 8.5% so far today. Volkswagen shares are down 4.8% in Frankfurt.
