The European Union Commissioner will meet with US Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick this Monday.
European Union Trade Commissioner Maros Sefcovic will be in Washington next Monday to try to advance a solution to end the tariff escalation launched by US President Donald Trump, coinciding with the EU's decision to freeze its retaliation to "give negotiations a chance."
"I won't go into the details of where these talks might lead beyond what we've said many times, which is that the European Union wants to find a mutually beneficial solution," Sefcovic's spokesman, Olof Gill, said at a press conference.
The commissioner, who speaks on behalf of the 27 EU member states on trade matters, as tariff policy is an exclusive competence of the EU, plans to meet with Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick and Trade Minister Jamieson L. Gree, with whom he maintains regular telephone contact.
