Morena's approach of eliminating the autonomy of regulatory bodies and operating them under the protection of federal agencies causes uncertainty for investments, said the Center for Economic Studies of the Private Sector

The relocation of companies (nearshoring) requires autonomous bodies that take maximum care of the surveillance and implementation of the necessary policies that ensure an environment of legality, so insisting on its disappearance only generates uncertainty for investments, the sector stated. private sector, said the Center for Economic Studies of the Private Sector (CEESP).

The approach of the party in power (Morena) to eliminate the autonomy of regulatory bodies and operate them under the protection of federal agencies causes uncertainty for investments, the entity said.

“The existence of an unattractive business environment in which a lack of transparency prevails, inefficient regulation, a weak energy sector, a poor educational sector, can undoubtedly be the cause of a significant increase in uncertainty, greater caution of investment, and less optimism about the evolution of economic activity,” he warned.

The weakening of economic activity as a result of an environment like this, he said, will lead to wasting the opportunity that nearshoring offers and inhibits any other intention to invest.

The role of the federal government with its opposition to autonomous bodies and antagonism to participation in strategic sectors by the private sector has seriously complicated the possibility of achieving a much friendlier environment for investment, reproached the body brought together in the Business Coordinating Council. (CCE).

Private analysts point out that given the economic results and forecasts, there are signs of uncertainty and concern about the future of economic activity.

While the timely estimate of Inegi indicates that during the first half of the year Mexico's GDP grew 1.5%, the average forecast of the Survey on the Expectations of Private Sector Specialists anticipates that for the entire current year the growth will be only 1.8 % and 1.6% by 2025, advances lower than those estimated by the government and also below the average growth of the last 30 years.

The government must take into account that the private sector is its best ally, since it reflects official objectives. If these are greater growth and well-being, the official position must act in that direction,” stated the CEESP.

Autonomous bodies ensure an environment of legality. “This not only benefits the investment but the entire population since it facilitates an environment of greater formal and better-paid employment, greater public security, an efficient health and education system, as well as less corruption and greater transparency, among other factors. of importance,” he assured.

The insistence on disappearing autonomous and independent bodies to redirect their responsibilities to the secretaries of state will only limit their function to the wishes of the government.

Undoubtedly, uncertainty grows in this environment and growth expectations weaken even further.
